To choose the correct Sealed Lead Acid battery - Choose either the General Purpose or Cyclic option below
- Choose the voltage (6v or 12v)
- From the pics find the battery with the correct physical shape and approximately the correct Ah (Amp/ hour) rating. Manufacturers vary slightly on capacity for a given physical size so approximate Ah is fine
- Click on the pic to check the exact dimensions and that the terminals are suitable. If you are replacing a ride-on toy battery with cables integral to the battery, add a ride-on adapter kit to your order.
General Purpose types are the flexible lower cost option and are suitable for most applications including standby applications where the battery is maintained at full charge waiting to be used such as Fire / Intruder alarms, emergency lights etc., and also for general cyclic applications such as ride-on toys where the battery is repeatedly charged and discharged. If you use a general purpose Sealed Lead Acid battery in a cyclic application you should ensure that you recharge it before it is completely discharged, i.e. in a ride-on toy, recharge when the toy is running slowly not when it won't move any more. Completely discharging a general purpose battery especially if it is left discharged for any length of time will shorten it's life.
Cyclic types are slightly more expensive and are optimised for applications where you need the maximum useable discharge capacity and the battery is likely to be fully discharged on each use then re-charged (cycled), these batteries are ideal for golf carts and personal mobility for example.
